Hand saws

A hand saw is a tool widely used for quick cuts—depending on the geometry of the teeth—crosswise or along the grain of the wood. It doesn't have a reinforced back; the saw blade is slightly thicker compared to, for example, backsaws, to maintain its rigidity during pushing movements and prevent the blade from warping. The thicker blade, combined with the appropriate set of teeth, results in a relatively wide cut.
