Each type of file is suitable for different tooth sizes, allowing you to achieve precise and consistent sharpness on various types of hand saws.
Available types
Lima Grande
Recommended for saws with larger teeth, approximately 4 teeth per inch (TPI) , such as rip saws and large crosscut saws. It can also be used on single or two-operator crosscut saws.
Large flat file
Measuring approximately 22 mm wide and 4.5 mm thick , it is ideal for sharpening the gullets on large crosscut saws, such as single-man saws with a "Great American" tooth pattern.
Medium lime
Suitable for standard hand saws and large tenon saws, typically with between 5½ and 10 teeth per inch .
medium precision file
Frequently used for sharpening thinner tenon saw blades , approximately 13–15 TPI , offering greater precision on the file edges.
Precision file
Designed for very thin saws, such as dovetail saws , typically around 20 TPI . These files are more expensive due to the high precision required on their edges.
Optional accessory
A beech wood handle is also available, which improves comfort and control when using the file.
