Clifton 600 – Straight Spokeshave (Flat Sole)
Description
The Clifton 600 is a flat-soled spokeshave designed for shaping and finishing work on flat or slightly curved surfaces. This model allows the tool to be used similarly to a small plane, offering great control in material removal.
It is particularly useful for fine-tuning, shaping parts, and hand-finishing wood, allowing you to work with precision in areas where larger tools don't offer the same control.
Manufactured in Sheffield by Thomas Flinn & Co. under the Clifton brand, it adheres to the high quality standards characteristic of Clifton tools.
Construction
The body is made of nodular iron (spheroidal graphite), an extremely durable and virtually unbreakable material. The surfaces are carefully finished and polished to provide comfort in the hand and precise control during use.
The weight and balance of the tool allow the spokeshave to sit firmly on the wood, requiring only a smooth movement to produce clean and controlled cuts.
The iron is made of cryogenically treated O1 steel , offering excellent edge retention and stability during cutting. The fine adjustment system allows for precise regulation of the cutting depth.
Applications
This model is especially suitable for:
– modeling of pieces in wood
– manual finishing of flat surfaces
– minor adjustments to furniture
– controlled removal of material
The Clifton 600 complements other models in the line, including curved-sole versions for working on rounded surfaces.
