Clifton 410 – Shoulder Plane

Description

The Clifton 410 is a lightweight, precise, narrow-shoulder planer designed for fine-tuning work on joints and recesses. Its shape allows for highly accurate work on joint shoulders, gussets, and other areas where careful control of material removal is required.

Manufactured in Sheffield by Thomas Flinn & Co. under the Clifton brand, this planer adheres to the high quality standards of Clifton tools, combining robust construction with precision machining.

The 410 model was also featured in Good Woodworking Magazine , where it received 5 out of 5 stars in a comparative review of various shoulder planers.

Construction

The body is made of high-quality gray cast iron, carefully machined, with the sole and sides precision ground to ensure stability and accuracy in cutting.

The lever arm is made of bronze and fits firmly into the plane body to ensure a secure hold of the iron.

The iron rests on machined surfaces in the planer body and can be precisely adjusted using an adjustment screw, allowing fine control of the cutting depth.

The planer features a Bright Ground finish, typical of Clifton precision tools.
