Clifton 650 – Curved Spokeshave Sole

Description

The Clifton 650 is a spokeshave with a curved sole , designed for working on rounded surfaces or organic shapes in wood. The curvature of the sole allows it to better follow the shape of the workpiece, facilitating control of the tool in curved areas.

This model is particularly useful for shaping parts with rounded profiles or for refining curved surfaces that have been previously machine-worked.

Manufactured in Sheffield by Thomas Flinn & Co. under the Clifton brand, it adheres to the high quality standards associated with Clifton tools.

Construction

The body is made of nodular iron (spheroidal graphite), an extremely durable and virtually unbreakable material. The surfaces are carefully finished and polished to provide comfort in the hand and precise control during use.

The weight and balance of the tool allow the spokeshave to sit firmly on the wood, requiring only a smooth movement to produce clean and controlled cuts.

The iron is made of cryogenically treated O1 steel , ensuring excellent edge retention and stability during cutting. The fine adjustment system allows for precise regulation of the cutting depth.

Applications

This model is especially suitable for:

– modeling curved surfaces
– finishing of rounded parts
– working on pieces with organic profiles
– refinement of curved surfaces after machine work

The Clifton 650 complements the Clifton 600 , which has a flat sole and is more suitable for flat surfaces.
