The Clifton 770 is a compact bullnose planer designed for working in hard-to-reach areas and for trimming recess shoulders with great precision. Its design allows it to work very close to adjacent surfaces, making it especially useful for cleaning corners and adjusting joints.
This plane is frequently used for finishing the shoulders of recesses and for detail work where a traditional plane cannot reach. Its compact size makes it lightweight, practical, and easy to control.
Manufactured in Sheffield by Thomas Flinn & Co. under the Clifton brand, it follows the same quality and precision standards as other Clifton planes.
Construction
The body is made of high-quality gray cast iron, with the sole and sides precision-ground to ensure stability and accuracy during use.
The lever arm is made of bronze, ensuring a firm hold on the iron. The iron rests on a machined surface on the planer body and can be precisely adjusted using the adjustment screw.
The tool features a Bright Ground finish characteristic of Clifton precision planers, and all edges are smoothly rounded for greater comfort during use.
