Clifton 3110 – Multifunctional Planer (Shoulder / Bull-nose / Chisel Plane)
Description
The Clifton 3110 is an extremely versatile planer designed for precision work in joinery and woodworking details. This model combines several functions in a single tool, and can be used as a shoulder plane, bullnose plane, or chisel plane .
This versatility allows the tool to be adapted to different work situations, such as adjusting the shoulders of joints, cleaning the bottoms of recesses, or working in hard-to-reach areas.
Manufactured in Sheffield by Thomas Flinn & Co. under the Clifton brand, this planer adheres to the high quality standards characteristic of Clifton tools.
Tool settings
The Clifton 3110 can be configured in several ways:
• Shoulder plane – with the front extension mounted, allowing for precise work on shoulders and joints.
• Chisel plane – removing all front pieces allows you to work even in the corners.
• Bull-nose plane – using the short front piece along with precision shims that allow adjusting the plane's jaw opening.
The supplied shims allow you to adjust the jaw opening in fine increments ( 1/32″ and 1/64″ ) or work with the minimum opening for very delicate cuts.
Construction
The body is made of high-quality gray cast iron, carefully machined and with precision-ground sole and sides. The lever arm is made of bronze, contributing to a secure hold of the iron.
The iron rests on machined surfaces on the planer body and can be adjusted using the adjustment screw, allowing precise control of the cutting depth.
The tool features a Bright Ground finish, typical of Clifton precision planers.
