Clifton Burnisher – Burnisher for Scrapers

Description

The Clifton Burnisher is a tool used to prepare and sharpen the cutting edge of cabinet scrapers . By running the burnisher over the edge of the scraper, a small burr is formed that allows the scraper to cut the wood effectively and produce a very fine finish.

Scrapers are often used by woodworkers to remove planer marks, work on difficult woods, or obtain very clean surfaces before finishing.

Manufactured in Sheffield by Thomas Flinn & Co. under the Clifton brand, this honing tool adheres to the high quality standards associated with Clifton tools.

Construction

The shaft is made of hardened, chrome-plated carbon steel , produced in Sheffield, ensuring high wear resistance and an extremely smooth surface — essential for correctly forming the burr on the scraper.

The handle is made of walnut , providing a comfortable and secure grip. It also includes a specially designed brass ferrule , which helps protect your fingers and knuckles during use.
